Inserted throughout Mojo Resurrection are the personal experiences of the author, J. Lawrence Ashton. Ashton's description and acceptance of his own flaws and past mistakes go beyond what most would be willing to admit, much less put in writing. By doing this, he joins with the reader in a shared problem and methodically transitions to the shared goal of a resurrected mojo. Ashton's frank approach is refreshing and substantiates his insight and solutions that many will find to be invaluable.
About the Author
Hello, I'm J. Lawrence Ashton, but you can call me Joe. I'm a mid-pack boomer born in the mid 1950's. I've been divorced for the last five years after a 25 year marriage and have a daughter engaged to be married. I'm a 'car guy', play golf and have been fortunate enough to have had the cultural experience of living on both coasts. However, I did get it somewhat backwards as I spent the first four decades on the west coast then moved to the northeast where I have lived for the last quarter century. During the writing of this book, a stray cat adopted me. I'm not exactly a cat person, but I took the stray in as it was stormy outside and felt it needed shelter. As fate would have it, it's a male and black & white just like the cover of this book, so naturally I named him Mojo. If you'd like to contact me, it would be great to hear from you. 5 stars - Raw and honest. Buy the book.
Joe rocked it with this book. This is not some namby-pamby BS diatribe on life. Joe cut out the PC nonsense and dove deep into the male side of the life equation. And we can all thank him for that. He gives it straight: a male perspective on life at a certain age and position, and the feminists be damned. You gotta love him for that. He will get his share of critics for much of what he writes, but if you and your gang have a chance to sit around a bar and discuss what he says, without the disapproving stares of wives and girlfriends, you'll agree Joe is telling it straight. Men need to hear things unvarnished and raw, and Joe certainly lays it out. It takes a lot of courage to talk about your failures and successes. Everybody wants to judge you. But Joe put it on the line, and his experiences are out there for any other man to read about and evaluate and maybe learn from. Buy the book: read it, learn from it, and get on with your life.
5 stars - Insightful
This book provided great insight into the thought processes and behaviors of a twice divorced Boomer Man. As a Boomer Female myself, I found it to be a refreshingly open and honest look at the challenges and achievements of a man struggling to 'find himself' after surviving two painful divorces. He actively cultivated a 'new and improved' version of himself to avoid past mistakes and gain a much greater appreciation of not only his masculinity, but of a feminine perspective as well. While I rarely give 5 stars, I highly recommend this book not only to men who find themselves on a similar journey, but to women (like me) who are perpetually curious about what's really going on in a man's head!
5 stars - A 'Must Have' for any Boomer Looking to Re-Boot His Love Life
Great book! This is the must-have book for any Boomer with performance issues either in the bedroom or out in the social scene, and any man re-entering the dating scene after a few decades on the sidelines. The author's confidence and personal experiences add insight and credibility to his roadmap for 'getting it right' and his sharp wit makes this an enjoyable as well as informative read. The book is organized in such a way that the reader can follow it as a simple step-by-step guide or focus only on those elements that resonate with him. 'Mojo Resurrection' is highly recommended for any Boomer man looking to get back in the saddle, improve his self-esteem and re-energize his sex life.
